Postnatal Pilates (Mum&Baby)

Classes can be started from 6 weeks following delivery.
Attending a postnatal Pilates class can be a fun, social and motivating way of starting exercise after giving birth. Physiofusion offers Pilates classes for new mums who are looking to increase core strength & stability and improve body shape, posture & muscle tone. Run by experienced Chartered Physiotherapists Eva Flunkert and Lorraine O'Reilly, you can be assured that all exercises are safe and appropriate for your stage of postnatal recovery.
This course aims to help new mums reconnect with their core muscles and pelvic floor post-pregnancy as well as improve their general health and fitness levels. We assess each participant for diastasis recti, and we adapt exercises accordingly.
We focus on abdominal muscle retraining, pelvic floor rehabilitation, mobility and stability exercises for the spine and pelvis, as well as global and functional movements eg squats and lunges for overall improvement in muscle tone and strength.
Postnatal Pilates can be commenced from 6 weeks post delivery following your check up with your doctor. Many of our participants continue with us until their baby is crawling.
Our classes are kept to a maximum of 7 mothers so that we can offer individual attention and hands-on correction to all participants.
Your new arrival is most welcome to join during class. While you exercise, your baby can work on their own movements or have a little nap on their own mat provided beside yours, and you are welcome to bring a carseat into the studio (buggies can be left at reception).
Should you need to change or feed your baby you are welcome to take a break during the class. We are a breastfeeding supportive environment, and many mothers will feel comfortable to feed in one of our private rooms if your little one is easily distracted during feeds!
It is a very relaxed atmosphere so please don't be worried if your baby is a little out of sorts during class. It's also a great opportunity to share ideas and get tips from fellow mothers.
Our postnatal class runs on both Monday mornings at 10am, and Thursdays at 11.15am.
The next course starts from Febuary 24th 2020.
Both courses are 6 weeks in duration (€110).
