In her spare time, as an ex-professional athlete, Kaitlyn enjoys Olympic weight lifting and strength & conditioning coaching. She coached CrossFit for 8 years, and she now enjoys strength training everyday athletes to high-level athletes in our clinic at Physiofusion. There is a place for movement for all of us when done safely, and everyone can participate and progress under the right guidance. Kaitlyn is available for both physiotherapy and personal training & exercise rehab sessions at Physiofusion. Book now</image:caption>

<image:title>Pilates/Strength Classes Dublin - Senior Men Strength & Flexibility Class</image:title>
<image:caption>We are delighted to have introduced a senior men’s strength and flexibility class which has been so successful. We suggest that this class is most suited to those over 70 years. Designed by our senior physiotherapy team, the class consists of a variety of strength based exercises targeting the upper and lower body as well as core exercises to support the back and hip strength. The class will be led by highly experienced Physiotherapist Kaitlyn Casper. So what is strengthening? Strengthening is any activity that overloads your muscles. It usually will involve using your body weight or working against resistance. On average it can take up to six to eight weeks to see changes but you will be glad to hear that you will have immediate effects such as increased energy levels and a mood boost! Physiotherapists are experts in movement analysis and exercise prescription, and all of are exercise classes are taught by experienced Physiotherapists. Current research has shown benefits to strengthening for people living with long term health conditions. Many of the participants in the class will have some underlying health issues, or relevant past medical history e.g arthritis, heart conditions etc. Kaitlyn will assess each individual participant on acceptance into the class to ensure that class participation is appropriate and that her exercise prescription will be personalized with any underlying conditions in mind. Is this class for you? If you are an older adult and you are looking to join a friendly class where you can build strength and do some exercises that are challenging and fun well this is for you! In summary it is crucial to find a strengthening activity you enjoy which will make you more likely to stick to it and then gradually build it up over time. So whether you are active or inactive currently, the key is to start somewhere and perhaps our class will be the place to begin! We will be using the Novaerus Air Disinfection system to ensure the highest clean air quality to medical grade standards. Call us to discuss if this class is for you!</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Physiotherapy Services - Physiotherapy for Neck and Back Pain</image:title>
<image:caption>Our experienced physiotherapists use an evidence based medical approach to assess and diagnose neck and back pain. We treat all types of neck and back pain – from niggles and stiffness, strains and sprains, to sciatica, ‘trapped nerves’, radiculopathies, disc protrusions, facet joint dysfunctions, osteoarthritis, spondylolisthesis, acute wry neck, and inflammatory disorders. Lorraine works alongside orthopaedic spinal surgeon Mr Derek Cawley at his Mater Private consulting rooms facilitating rapid referral to a specialist when required. We are also registered with the Irish Life BackUp Programme where you can avail of six physiotherapy sessions for a once-off payment of just €65. Not sure if you need a scan? Most people presenting to a physio or GP with eg neck/back/knee pain etc do not require an MRI scan. We will tell you at the first visit if your history and symptoms suggest that a scan is indicated, and we will liase with your GP or Consultant to help co-ordinate this. Physiotherapists can direct refer for MRI scans for our Laya Healthcare clients- although we rarely need to do so. If you have already had an x-ray or an MRI scan and would like someone to explain the results and plan the next steps, our physiotherapists will explain the scan report findings to you and discuss your treatment and options.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Musculoskeletal physiotherapists are highly competent in the assessment and treatment of shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle/foot and hand pain. The high level of care offered by our team of senior physiotherapists ensures that relief is most often felt from the first day of your treatment. This is reassuring for patients who are concerned about pain, particularly where the patient may have no recollection of any injury and where the pain was of spontaneous onset.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Physiotherapy Services - Sports Injury Treatment</image:title>
<image:caption>With extensive experience across multiple sports including international football and rugby, and across all levels through to the Olympic Games, our physiotherapists bring these high standards and expectations of effective results to the treatment room. We enjoy the reward of seeing our patients achieve their goals and return to full activity whether that is a couch to 5km run, triathlon, tennis and padel or the Marathon des Sables!. At Physiofusion our typical sports injury patient has a history of recurrent pain or a longstanding injury that hasn’t resolved. We have vast experience with these tricky and more complex injuries such as repeated calf strains in runners, Achillles tendonitis in tennis players, as well as stubborn plantar fasciitis and kneecap pain. Orthotics may help where there are biomechanical issues, but often when we look at improving how the whole body moves, it can reduce the overload on a weak muscle in the foot or leg. Over twenty years of experience helps with this!</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Physiotherapy Services - Orthotic Prescription</image:title>
<image:caption>Orthotics are insoles that are worn inside your shoe and they can range from ‘arch supports’ to ‘simple prescription insoles’ to custom orthotics which are moulded to your own foot shape. We employ a wide range of devices to ensure we best fit your need whether it be for daily walking, sports specific or indeed to fit within your current fashion or work shoes. Orthotics are individually designed using both traditional plaster of paris methods along with newer 3D printed orthotics. We work with a range of suppliers including Irish brands Archway Orthotics and Podiatry Products Limited, along with the internationally renowned EDSER UK company to ensure you have a wide choice for the perfect pair of insoles for your feet. Each person’s feet are unique and will cope with daily demands differently. As physiotherapists we will assess your lower limb biomechanics aswell as consider the ability of your tendons and soft tissues to absorb load generated during the gait cycle. We also advise on choice of runner that best suits your foot and gait type.</image:caption>

<image:title>Pain Management - Chronic and Complex Pain Management</image:title>
<image:caption>The management of chronic pain requires an understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of how our body (and in particular our central nervous system) produces and reacts to pain. We appreciate the impact that chronic pain can have on an individual’s quality of life, and how difficult it can be to take steps to start physiotherapy when sometimes it feels that movement can make your pain worse. We listen to you and we prescribe a realistic, achievable exercise programme, and we provide follow up support for those who need some extra assistance to stay motivated.</image:caption>

<image:title>Acupuncture - How would Acupuncture help me?</image:title>
<image:caption>Acupuncture has become an increasingly established and evidence-based treatment within modern physiotherapy practice, particularly for the management of pain, muscle tension, and a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. Alongside improving movement and function, it can also support overall wellbeing by helping regulate stress and nervous system responses. During times of tissue injury and pain, the central nervous system can become ‘sensitised’. This means that we can have a heightened sensitivity to pain, and the injured tissue and surrounding areas can be very painful, or indeed sometimes too painful to touch. Acupuncture can help to reduce tissue hypersensitivity and thereby allow a patient to move better with less pain, and for conditions such as whiplash or nerve pain, it allows us to begin gentle manual therapy and progress with exercise and rehabilitation. From a modern scientific perspective, acupuncture influences the nervous system, immune system, and local tissue health through changes in cell regulation. It can reduce pain sensitivity, trigger natural pain-relieving chemicals, improve circulation, and activate the body’s rest-and-recover response. Read more below to learn if Acupuncture is suitable for you.</image:caption>

<image:title>Acupuncture - Would Acupuncture help my problem?</image:title>
<image:caption>You might benefit from acupuncture if you: have ongoing pain that hasn’t fully settled feel tense, guarded, or stiff much of the time notice stress, poor sleep, or fatigue makes your pain worse find pain limits your ability to exercise or stay active have underlying health conditions which may affect your general wellness and your body’s energy for healing. you find hands-on therapies too painful to comfortably tolerate, or you don’t like treatments such as massage or touch. Whiplash associated disorder is a condition that is well suited to Acupuncture therapy and can be a very beneficial modality as part of a comprehensive physiotherapy management strategy.</image:caption>

<image:title>Acupuncture - What should I expect on my first visit?</image:title>
<image:caption>What to expect at an acupuncture appointment Cathy will welcome you and your session will begin with a comprehensive physiotherapy assessment, including discussion of symptoms, medical history, and movement. Fine sterile needles are gently inserted into targeted areas with the highest standards of hand hygiene in place, and the needles are left in place for around 20 minutes while you rest. Most people find treatment comfortable and relaxing. Where you are already undergoing treatment eg physiotherapy/other for your condition, Cathy will advise you on any aspects for consideration eg continuing your exercises later that day. How many sessions are usually needed? A course of treatment is commonly recommended, typically four to six sessions, usually spaced weekly, with progress reviewed as treatment continues.</image:caption>
