Neck Pain Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy for Neck and Back Pain

Our experienced physiotherapists use an evidence based medical approach to assess and diagnose neck and back pain. We treat all types of neck and back pain – from niggles and stiffness, strains and sprains, to sciatica, ‘trapped nerves’, radiculopathies, disc protrusions, facet joint dysfunctions, osteoarthritis, spondylolisthesis, acute wry neck, and inflammatory disorders.

Lorraine works alongside orthopaedic spinal surgeon Mr Derek Cawley at his Mater Private consulting rooms facilitating rapid referral to a specialist when required.

We are also registered with the Irish Life BackUp Programme where you can avail of six physiotherapy sessions for a once-off payment of just €65.

Not sure if you need a scan? Most people presenting to a physio or GP with eg neck/back/knee pain etc do not require an MRI scan. We will tell you at the first visit if your history and symptoms suggest that a scan is indicated, and we will liase with your GP or Consultant to help co-ordinate this. Physiotherapists can direct refer for MRI scans for our Laya Healthcare clients- although we rarely need to do so.

If you have already had an x-ray or an MRI scan and would like someone to explain the results and plan the next steps, our physiotherapists will explain the scan report findings to you and discuss your treatment and options.

Upper and Lower Limb Pain

Musculoskeletal physiotherapists are highly competent in the assessment and treatment of shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle/foot and hand pain. The high level of care offered by our team of senior physiotherapists ensures that relief is most often felt from the first day of your treatment. This is reassuring for patients who are concerned about pain, particularly where the patient may have no recollection of any injury and where the pain was of spontaneous onset.

Sports Injury Treatment

With extensive experience across multiple sports including international football and rugby, and across all levels through to the Olympic Games, our physiotherapists bring these high standards and expectations of effective results to the treatment room.

We enjoy the reward of seeing our patients achieve their goals and return to full activity whether that is a couch to 5km run, triathlon, tennis and padel or the Marathon des Sables!.

At Physiofusion our typical sports injury patient has a history of recurrent pain or a longstanding injury that hasn’t resolved. We have vast experience with these tricky and more complex injuries such as repeated calf strains in runners, Achillles tendonitis in tennis players, as well as stubborn plantar fasciitis and kneecap pain.

Orthotics may help where there are biomechanical issues, but often when we look at improving how the whole body moves, it can reduce the overload on a weak muscle in the foot or leg.

Over twenty years of experience helps with this!

Vestibular Rehabilitation - Managing Dizziness

Vertigo or dizziness can occur when there is a problem with an individual’s balance system as a result of injury or disease. 'Vestibular rehabilitation' is a form of physiotherapy that reduces vertigo and dizziness-related problems and improves balance.

While the symptoms of vertigo can cause considerable anxiety for individuals, it is reassuring to know that treatment can be very successful following a thorough assessment and examination.  The treatment for BPPV for example an often lead to dramatically impressive results by the end of the first session.

Physiotherapy & orthotic services

Orthotic Prescription

Orthotics are insoles that are worn inside your shoe and they can range from ‘arch supports’ to ‘simple prescription insoles’ to custom orthotics which are moulded to your own foot shape.  We employ a wide range of devices to ensure we best fit your need whether it be for daily walking, sports specific or indeed to fit within your current fashion or work shoes.

Each person’s feet are unique and will cope with daily demands differently. As physiotherapists we will assess your lower limb biomechanics aswell as consider the ability of your tendons and soft tissues to absorb load generated during the gait cycle. We also advise on choice of runner that best suits your foot and gait type.
